Two things we build for machine and fab shops. One helps you keep the people you have. The other helps you find the next ones.

Your Career and Pay System
$9,999
Your people want to earn more, and right now there’s no map. So every raise turns into a one-off negotiation. Say yes and you’ve created a pay problem for next year. Say no and you start the clock on losing someone good.
Datum gives every role in your shop a ladder, every level a pay band, and every step up a written list of what it takes. It’s built on your departments, your roles, and the review you already run. There’s no app to log into. I build it, hand it to you, and train your team to run it.
What you get
What I need from you
A list of every position, with its department and who it reports to, and your zip code so the pay bands match your local market. Your current review form helps, but it’s optional. If you can export a roster, you can start today.
How long it takes
About four weeks. Week one, I map your shop. Weeks two and three, I build it and send you a draft. Week four, I come to your shop and we roll it out together. Your total time is a few hours.
The rule that protects you
Nobody’s pay goes down. Ever. If someone is already paid above their band, their pay is protected, and raises wait until their skills catch up. From then on, every raise is either a promotion to a new level or a merit raise within the band, and both are written down.
Annual Tune-Up: $1,500 a year, optional
Roles change and markets move. Once a year, I update your bands and ladders.
$5,000 plus travel
I spend half a day in your shop. We walk the floor, sit down for interviews, and film your people doing the work. Then I cut it into one 3 to 5 minute video that shows what it’s like to work in your building.
What you get
Link it in every job posting. Play it at career fairs. Send it to a candidate before the interview. The video and clips are yours, and the video also runs on my channel.
Travel within Arizona is included. Outside Arizona, I’ll quote travel before we book.
Please reach us at jim.mayer@themfgconnector.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If good people are leaving, start with Datum. If good people aren’t applying, start with a video. A lot of shops end up doing both.
Most shop software answers, “Can this person run this machine?” Datum answers, “How does a person earn more money here, and how do you decide that fairly?”
No. You still make every call. Now you can write down why.
Yes. For videos, I’m there for the shoot. For Datum, I build it remotely, and I always come in person for the rollout and manager training.
If you have about 10 to 200 people, yes. That’s who we built it for.
